I took my character out a guild last week on world of warcraft but when i went in today its still showing as that old guild, i even went on wow hereos and updated the info and still nothing.
is there a way to ensure my new guild is shown. the tag above my name in-game shows my correct guild but not on the armory :\

The armory should be updated by now. Wow heroes is another thing, it is not an official website and it will take some time before they update your char.
I can’t possibly think of a reason you would be so anxious about the guild wow heroes shows you are in but you can keep on trying to force the update. Sometimes it works.
Now if the official wow-armory shows you in the wrong guild and as you say it’s been a week then you may need to contact Blizz but I doubt that’s the case.
it is just probrably delayed a bit it will eventually come out of it dont worry, if you want try find another guild and it should sort out your problem by changing it
if you are looking at your char out of game like at http://www.wowarmory.com it will take some time for it to actually update itself.
dont worry its not too big an issue and will sort itself out
